My first laptop had 20MB of hard disk space. Yes — MB, not GB. That was a lot of space then. Music and video then were not digital so everything was kept off the computer. Now, as more media have become digital, the media move to computers, the rapid development of nanotechnology, the production of more sophisticated devices and large varieties of music/video formats, have increasingly put pressure on manufacturers to squeeze more data into smaller and smaller components.
